Красная Шапочка не заподозрила ничего плохого. Она шла по самой длинной дороге, «по пути то и дело останавливалась, рвала цветы и собирала в букеты». Волк был очень голодным, «потому что три дня ничего не ел». Увидев беспомощную старушку, он тут же проглотил ее. Затем он улегся в бабушкину постель и стал дожидаться Красную Шапочку.
